Senior Moving Services
We understand the sensitivity of a senior move and treat every client with patience and respect.
Senior moving in the San Fernando Valley is rarely just about boxes — it's usually a transition. Maybe Mom is leaving the Encino ranch house she's lived in for forty years for a one-bedroom at a senior community in Woodland Hills, or a family is consolidating a parent's belongings ahead of an assisted living move in Sherman Oaks. Our senior moving service covers the whole arc: patient sorting and downsizing, careful packing of fragile keepsakes and decades' worth of furniture, the move itself, and unpacking into the new place so the bed is made and the kitchen is usable the first night. We move at the client's pace, not the clock's.
This service is for older adults and the families helping them — adult children coordinating from across town or out of state, along with the care managers, senior placement advisors, and family helpers who often guide these moves. A lot of our senior moves involve real downsizing: deciding what fits in a smaller floor plan, what goes to family, and what's donated. We coordinate donation drop-offs to local charities and keep a family liaison in the loop so everyone knows the plan, even when the person moving feels overwhelmed by it. The goal is to take the logistics off the family's shoulders without taking the decisions away from the senior.
With a senior move, the kindest thing we can do is take the pressure out of the day, so we plan it to feel calm rather than fast. We work from the new floor plan first — measuring what actually fits the smaller space — and let the downsizing decisions drive the pack: what stays, what goes to family, what's donated. Then we sequence the day gently, setting up the bedroom and bathroom first so the most familiar, comforting spaces are ready before anything else is touched. Where a Valley senior community has set move-in hours or a single shared elevator, we book around them in advance so there's no rushing or waiting at the door. For a senior move, an unhurried, well-ordered day matters far more than shaving off an hour.

Common Questions
How is a senior move priced if it takes longer because we're going at a slower pace?
Like all our local moves, senior moves are billed hourly with a 2-hour minimum — roughly $120/hr for a 2-mover crew up to $210/hr for a 4-mover crew, depending on home size and truck count. We don't rush you, and there's no 'senior' surcharge. To keep the hourly time manageable, we often suggest packing and downsizing on a separate day from the move itself, so the crew arrives to a home that's ready to load. Your exact rate is confirmed in a free quote and locked before booking, with no hidden fees.
Can you help with downsizing and deciding what to keep, not just the lifting?
Yes. Downsizing help is a core part of our senior moving service. We can sort room by room, box what's staying, set aside items for family, and coordinate donation drop-offs to local San Fernando Valley charities. We'll work from a floor plan of the new place — common at senior communities in Woodland Hills, Tarzana, and Northridge — so we only pack what actually fits. We don't appraise or sell items, but we can hand off to an estate sale professional if that's part of the plan.
Do you coordinate with senior living facilities and their move-in rules?
We do this regularly. Most Valley senior and assisted living communities require movers to provide a certificate of insurance naming the facility before move-in day, and many restrict move-ins to set weekday hours with a reserved elevator. We handle the certificate of insurance and book the elevator window with the facility's move-in coordinator so there are no surprises at the door. Just give us the community's name and contact when you book, and we'll take it from there.
My parent is anxious about the move. How do you keep the day low-stress for them?
We send patient crew members who slow down, explain what's happening, and treat a lifetime of belongings with respect. We keep a single point of contact — often an adult child or placement advisor — as the family liaison, so the senior isn't fielding logistics questions all day. We label and protect cherished and fragile items carefully, and we can set up the new bedroom and bathroom first so the most familiar, comforting spaces are ready before anything else is unpacked.
Can you do the move and unpacking in one day, or split it across days?
Both work. For a smaller apartment or a move within the Valley, packing, transport, and basic unpacking often fit in a single day. For a full house with significant downsizing, we usually recommend splitting it — sorting and packing on one day, then loading, transport, and setup on the next — which is calmer for the senior and frequently more efficient on billable hours. We'll recommend the right structure during your free quote, based on the home size and the new floor plan.
