What packing materials do you provide, and are they included in the price?
We bring everything the job needs: small, medium, large, and dish-pack cartons, wardrobe boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, tape, and specialty boxes for mirrors, artwork, and TVs. Custom crating is available for high-value or oddly shaped pieces. Materials are itemized separately from the hourly labor, so you can see exactly what the pack costs before we begin — no surprise box fees buried in the invoice. If you've already collected some boxes of your own, we'll happily work them into the plan to keep your material cost down.
How much does professional packing cost on top of my move?
Packing is billed on the same hourly structure as our moving labor, with a 2-hour minimum — roughly $120/hr for a 2-mover crew up to $210/hr for a 4-mover crew — plus the cost of materials, itemized up front. A fragile-only kitchen pack is often a couple of hours; a full three-bedroom home in Encino or Northridge usually takes a crew most of a day. Can you pack just the fragile or difficult items instead of the whole house?
Absolutely — that's our partial and fragile-only packing service, and it's one of our most requested options in the Valley. Many clients have us handle the kitchen, glassware, artwork, mirrors, electronics, and the garage, then pack their own clothes and books to save time and money. You tell us which rooms or items you want covered when we quote, and we bring exactly the materials those need. It's a smart way to protect the things that actually break while keeping the bill down.
Should I pack my own boxes, or does that affect coverage if something breaks?
You're welcome to pack your own boxes, but it's worth knowing how movers handle them. When our crew packs a carton, we stand behind how it was packed. With owner-packed boxes, a mover's liability is generally limited unless there's visible external damage to the carton, since we can't verify how the contents were wrapped inside. For anything fragile or valuable, that's the main reason customers have us do the packing — it keeps responsibility for the breakables clearly on us.
Do you offer unpacking at the new place too, and how far ahead should I book?
Yes. We can unpack and set up on request — beds reassembled, kitchen boxes emptied onto the counter, cartons and paper hauled away so you're not living among boxes for a week. Unpacking is billed by the same hourly structure as the pack. For booking, give us about a week of lead time for most jobs, and two to three weeks during the busy summer and winter turnovers around CSUN and the Van Nuys apartment corridors, when crews fill up first.
