Long Distance Moving

Moving out of state? We handle logistics end-to-end so your belongings arrive safely.

Long-distance moving in the San Fernando Valley means more than loading a truck and pointing it at the freeway. An interstate or cross-country move is a regulated, multi-day relocation, and we plan it that way from the first phone call. Our crews inventory your home and build a written estimate before move day so you know what you're committing to. We handle the full chain: professional packing of fragile and high-value items, careful loading, line-haul transport, and delivery within an agreed window. Whether you're leaving a Woodland Hills hillside home, an Encino condo, or a Van Nuys apartment, the goal is the same — your belongings arrive intact and on schedule.

This service is for Valley residents heading out of California or across it: families relocating for work from Sherman Oaks to Phoenix or Las Vegas, retirees downsizing from Northridge to Texas, and renters making the long jump from Studio City to the East Coast. The Valley's housing mix shapes the origin half of every long-distance job. Managed buildings along Ventura Blvd typically have their own move-in paperwork and a reserved elevator window to coordinate. Hillside streets south of the Boulevard near Mulholland often can't take a full-size van, so we plan a smaller shuttle vehicle to a staging point. We scout these details up front so the pickup day runs clean and nothing throws off the delivery timeline.

On a cross-country move, the part that decides your experience is the schedule, not the muscle. We pin down line-haul timing first — when the truck loads in the Valley, the realistic transit days for your route, and the delivery window at the far end — and we put that in writing alongside the inventory so there's no guessing on either side. We confirm the destination's access in advance too: whether a full-size van can reach the new street, whether a building there needs its own paperwork, and where the truck can legally stage to unload. With the inventory, the timing, and both ends' logistics settled before pickup, a long haul becomes a sequence of confirmed steps rather than a multi-day unknown.

FAQ

Common Questions

How is a long-distance move priced compared to a local Valley move?

Local moves inside the San Fernando Valley are billed hourly with a 2-hour minimum, roughly $120/hr for a 2-mover crew up to $210/hr for a 4-mover crew. Long-distance moves work differently: instead of the clock, the price is built from the weight of your shipment, the distance, and any packing or specialty services you add. We inventory your home and put the number in writing before you book, so the estimate is locked in and there are no surprise charges on delivery day. The hourly rates above don't apply to interstate hauls — ask for a long-distance quote specifically.

How long will my belongings take to arrive?

It depends on the route. A move from the Valley to Las Vegas or Phoenix can often deliver in a day or two, while a cross-country haul to the East Coast typically runs longer because of distance and consolidated routing. When you book, we give you a realistic delivery window rather than a single promised hour, and we keep you updated along the way. We confirm that window in your written estimate so you can plan your arrival, hotel nights, or first day at a new job around it.

Do you pack everything, or do I pack myself for a long move?

Either way works, but for long distance we strongly recommend professional packing on fragile and high-value items at minimum. Over hundreds of highway miles, a poorly packed box takes far more abuse than it would on a cross-town hop. We can do full packing, pack only the kitchen and breakables, or supply materials if you'd rather box the rest yourself. For a long haul, coverage matters, so we'll lay out the valuation and protection options that apply to your shipment in writing before you decide how your items are protected.

Can your trucks reach my building or hillside home for the pickup?

Yes, and we plan for it before move day. For condo and apartment buildings along Ventura Blvd in Encino, Sherman Oaks, and Tarzana, we coordinate the move-in paperwork your building requires and reserve the elevator in advance. For narrow, curving streets in the hills south of the Boulevard that can't fit a full-size moving van, we shuttle your belongings to the truck with a smaller vehicle from a safe staging point. We scout tricky Valley addresses when we quote, so access never becomes a delivery-day problem.

Are you licensed to move my belongings across state lines?

Interstate household moves are regulated by the FMCSA, part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and they're handled differently from a local Valley job. OverEasy is a licensed, insured company, and when you book a long-distance move we'll put the licensing that applies to your route, plus the valuation and protection options for your specific shipment, in writing — so you have everything documented before your belongings leave the Valley. Ask us for a long-distance quote and we'll walk you through exactly how your move is covered.
